hello, from the corner studio

I've decided to start chronicling my experiences experimenting with mediums and process in my tiny corner studio.

I've been painting for over 10 years but recently, in March (when the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in my area of the world) committed to painting regularly again.

This is another big step for me- a blog! If anyone is reading this, thank you.

The first topics I'm going to cover here are my experiences with acrylic paint, acrylic mediums, isolation coating, and varnishing. Feel free to leave a comment below if there's anything else you'd like to hear about.

I'm planning on using this blog to give more insight into what I'm working on and how I'm getting on with this new medium (acrylic).

For the past decade, I've worked exclusively in oil. In March, transitioned to watercolor, then to gouache (which I still work in daily), and now have landed on acrylic paint.

It seems a more practical choice at present, as my corner studio is... well... just that! A corner of the apartment I share with my husband in New Hampshire. Concerned about fumes and (our white couch, which is close to my easel) I decided to give acrylic a go. More about that in my next post. Happy Saturday!
